My teacher commented that I should've gone for a more dynamic cover page. At first I disagreed but I guess it does look kinda underwhelming.

@GOTLANDSKORV: I think this cover is too wide to work with the drawing, the empty spaces on the sides of the character dilutes the focus and dilutes the impression.

I think what happens with these types of sparse drawings is that you start to look around it to find where the drawing continues and if there isn't a clear border indicating that the drawing has ended the more subconscious parts of your brain will not really stop looking and this ends up making you feel a bit distracted when you look at the image.

The simple trick you find in many places is to put a tall narrow frame around the drawing, like make the outer third on both sides of the center just black slabs, usually this improves things. Then you can make the black slabs into nice graphical elements with some extra details. For your comic maybe black feathers will be thematic?
